Description & Care Guide:
The Scarlet Badis is a small, colorful fish known for its vibrant red and orange hues, especially in males. This species is peaceful and timid, making it well-suited for aquariums with similarly small, non-aggressive tank mates. Scarlet Badis are often a bit shy and prefer densely planted tanks where they can hide and feel secure. While they are hardy, they have relatively specific care needs, especially regarding water conditions and diet. The species prefers areas where they can forage for small invertebrates and stay hidden among plants and substrate.
Fun Fact:
The Scarlet Badis is known for its vivid coloration, especially during the breeding season when males display their brightest reds and oranges to attract females. Despite their small size, these fish can be quite territorial and will often claim their own little patch in a densely planted aquarium.
