Description & Care Guide:
The Bichir Senegalus, also known as the Senegal Bichir or Dinosaur Fish, is a unique and ancient species that adds a prehistoric feel to any aquarium. With its armored body, pectoral fins, and elongated snout, this fish is reminiscent of the first vertebrates that emerged millions of years ago. Known for its resilience and adaptability, the Senegal Bichir is a nocturnal, carnivorous fish that enjoys a well-planted tank with plenty of hiding spots. Though peaceful, it can grow large and may attempt to eat smaller tank mates, making it best suited for larger aquariums with similarly sized fish.

The species is commonly found in both clear and turbid waters, where it thrives in oxygen-rich environments and hunts for invertebrates and small fish.
Fun Fact:
The Bichir Senegalus is often called the "Dinosaur Fish" because its primitive appearance has remained largely unchanged for millions of years, making it a living fossil in the aquarium world.
