Description & Care Guide:
The Oranda Goldfish is a captivating variety of goldfish known for its distinctively large, fleshy wen (a cap-like growth) on the head, which gives it a unique and charming appearance. These fish come in a variety of colors, with the most common being orange and red, but they can also be found in white, black, and even a mix of colors. Orandas are peaceful and social, making them ideal for community tanks. However, they do require careful attention to water quality and tank space due to their potential size and active nature.

Wild Habitats/Origins:
The Oranda Goldfish is a domesticated variety of the wild goldfish Carassius auratus, which is native to East Asia, specifically China. Goldfish were originally bred in ponds, lakes, and rivers with slow-moving or still water, and Orandas share similar habitat preferences. They thrive in cool, clear water with plenty of space for swimming, as well as vegetation to provide shelter and natural grazing areas.

Fun Fact:
The Oranda Goldfish's characteristic wen, or "hood," continues to grow throughout its life, becoming more prominent with age, making it one of the most recognizable and admired goldfish varieties in the aquarium hobby.
