Description & Care Guide:
The Knight Goby is a striking freshwater species known for its distinctive appearance, with a smooth body and bold color patterns. Typically gray or brown with darker markings, this species gets its name from the "armor-like" coloration that resembles a knight’s attire. Knight Gobies are peaceful, hardy fish that do well in aquariums with a sandy substrate, as they love to burrow. They thrive in brackish water conditions and are often kept in species tanks or with other brackish-tolerant species. While they’re relatively easy to care for, they do require proper water salinity and are best kept in groups.

Wild Habitats/Origins:
Native to the coastal brackish waters of Southeast Asia, the Knight Goby is typically found in estuaries, river mouths, and mangrove swamps, where freshwater and saltwater mix. These habitats are shallow with sandy or muddy substrates, and the Knight Goby often hides among the sand or in burrows. The species is adapted to varying salinity levels, thriving in areas with gentle to moderate currents and an abundance of organic material.

Fun Fact:
The Knight Goby is known for its burrowing behavior, using its strong mouth to create tunnels in the substrate, providing a fascinating look at its natural digging habits in aquariums.
