Collection: Plecostomus
Plecostomus, or "Plecos," are a group of freshwater catfish known for their algae-eating habits and unique appearance, including armored bodies and sucker-like mouths. They are commonly kept in aquariums to help control algae growth, making them valuable members of a tank's cleanup crew. Plecos come in a variety of species, ranging from the smaller Bristlenose Pleco to the larger Common Pleco, with some species growing quite large over time. They prefer aquariums with hiding spots, such as caves or driftwood, and are primarily nocturnal, often staying hidden during the day and becoming more active at night. While generally peaceful, Plecos require ample space as they grow and can become territorial with other bottom-dwelling fish.
